Apple's new ultra-thin iPhone Air began arriving on Friday, and while it hasn't seen as much demand as the iPhone 17 Pro models, its slim design appears to be enough to compensate for its limited battery and cameras.

According to a review conducted by 9TO5Mac after half a day of use, the iPhone Air's slimness may make users uneasy about going back to a thicker, heavier iPhone.

The review stated that while preconceptions of the iPhone Air may lead users to think it has a futuristic design—similar to the iPhone X—the slim phone simply sets a new standard for what an iPhone should be.

While the iPhone 17 Pro has increased in size to satisfy power users, the iPhone Air looks like what the future baseline iPhone should be.

In the early days of the iPhone, Apple offered only one model—there were no Pro, Pro Max, Air, or any of that. If that strategy had continued, the iPhone Air would have been the model Apple would have sold annually.

So it seems the iPhone Air is poised to become the new essential iPhone for everyone. Of course, the phone won't achieve this immediately, as it's still limited in some aspects. But after a few years of iteration, with a better battery and perhaps more cameras, the iPhone Air could become a true success.

In another preliminary review by Digital Trends, the site noted that the iPhone Air's ultra-thinness can only be appreciated by holding it in your hand, as photos simply don't do it justice.

The site stated that part of the phone's appeal is due to its unique design, as Apple has made the phone as thin as possible everywhere except for the camera area.

The iPhone Air is 5.64 mm thick, 1.36 mm thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. It's two grams heavier overall, but the thinner body makes it lighter than the Galaxy S25 Edge when held in the hand. It's a stunning design that outperforms its competitors among the best phones, according to the website.

Along with the distinctive design, the iPhone Air's 6.5-inch display makes it more functional for everyday use than the older 6.3-inch iPhone Pro.

Thank you !
