๐ A STAR CLUSTER ALMOST AS OLD AS THE UNIVERSE!
Astronomers have measured the age of VVV CL001, a mysterious globular star cluster hidden behind thick clouds of dust near the center of the Milky Way.
The result? An estimated 13.4 BILLION YEARS! ๐คฏ
Using observations from the Hubble Space Telescope and other powerful astronomical instruments, researchers identified 155 probable cluster members and uncovered important clues about its ancient history.
Its extremely low iron content could make it one of the most valuable surviving records of the Milky Way's earliest formation.
But is it actually the oldest star cluster in our galaxy? Scientists still need further observations to find out!
๐ Could this ancient stellar relic help us understand how our galaxy began?
