NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is preparing to give astronomers a dramatically wider view of the universe! 🔭
Its Wide Field Instrument will capture an area of sky 100 times larger than Hubble’s cameras while offering comparable sensitivity. Roman could help scientists study dark matter, dark energy, distant galaxies, rare cosmic objects and planets beyond our solar system.
And there’s more: its advanced coronagraph will demonstrate technology designed to block starlight and directly observe planets that would otherwise be hidden in the glare. Science operations are expected to begin in January 2027.
The universe is about to be surveyed on a much wider scale. 🌌
