Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Arts: Collaboration, Chaos, and the Human Touch
Artificial intelligence is transforming how we create, experience, and even think about art. From generating stunning visuals in seconds to immersive VR experiences that place you inside historical narratives, AI is reshaping creativity in unprecedented ways. But while machines can imitate human technique, they cannot replicate what truly makes art human: emotion, imperfection, and intention.
Across classrooms, galleries, and tech festivals, artists are learning to embrace AI as a tool—not a replacement. Students and educators use AI to visualize ideas, experiment with new forms, and explore its limitations, while intentionally preserving the aspects of art that machines cannot replicate. As Jerod Peitsmeyer notes, “Art is an attempt by human beings to connect with one another. In order for something to be art, there has to be an intention behind it.”
